Its reputation for reliability and high quality products, however, remains unchanged.

Here is a compilation of a few major Maytag repair issues and their solutions.
Problem #1: A lot of Maytag users reported to us that their refrigerators stopped cooling, even though the motor continues to work. While facing this problem, they also heard a buzzing sound from the fridge that would come and go.
Solution: These are classic symptoms of a faulty compressor/compressor failure. The most likely problem is that your compressor has heated up, and the starter relay is trying to deliver extra electricity jolts to get it started (a hot compressor is more difficult to start). This is what is probably causing the buzzing sound. Maytag has had trouble with its compressors, so the best option would be to get one of our trained technicians to diagnose the problem exactly and replace your compressor with a better quality compatible one.
Problem #2: Several side-by-side refrigerator owners have complained that their refrigerator’s inside water dispenser has stopped dispensing water. The problem persists even after installing a new filter.
Solution: There could be two possible issues causing this problem. The first is a frozen water supply line inside the unit. If it is blocked, you will need to melt the ice and flush your line out. Otherwise, your water inlet valve might be defective. A technician will test it out and replace if necessary.
Problem #3: By far the most common Maytag refrigerator repair issue reported by users is that their freezer is working, but not the refrigerator. People get thoroughly confused by this problem as well as extremely worried.
Solution: This seems like a straightforward problem, but does not always have the same solution. There are two or three possible reasons why your refrigerator is not cooling while your freezer is functioning fine. To begin with, you should know that the cooling coils of your entire refrigerator-freezer unit are located in your freezer. This is where all the cool air is generated. The air is then circulated into your fridge by a small fan or a blower.
If the fridge section is not working, the first possibility is that your blower has failed. This is easily corrected – all you need to do is get your blower replaced. If the blower is working fine, the likely cause is that your cooling coils have frozen over, and this is blocking the flow of air. Now, why would that happen? Once again, two possible reasons.
Your refrigerator has a self-timed defrost cycle to melt the ice around the cooling coils and prevent such a problem. However, the timing device may be defective, and as a result, your defrost cycle may not be running often enough. If the problem is not with the timer, your heater coil which melts the ice is probably not working. To diagnose whether the problem is with the heater coil or the timer, you should call a technician over.
The first thing to do, though, is to switch off your refrigerator for a few hours. This will melt the ice and automatically defrost your cooling coils. If the fridge still does not work, it means the problem is, in fact, with your blower fan.
Problem #4: This is a problem peculiar to French door refrigerators. Users report that when they close one side hard, the other side pops open. People wonder if this is something to be concerned about.
Solution: This is fairly normal with French door refrigerators. When you close one side hard, you force air into your airtight refrigerator unit. This air has to escape somewhere, and it pops open the other side. This is nothing to be concerned about. However, if the other side pops open and then swings out, it indicates that your refrigerator is not properly leveled, and it is leaning too far forward. As soon as you level it slightly backwards, this problem will stop.
