Our technicians have a complex understanding of LG’s technology and engineering standards, and as mentioned earlier, they have the competence to service your entire LG fridge repair needs. However, if you prefer to begin by understanding your refrigerator problem yourself and giving a shot at DIY, we respect that. To help you, we have compiled a list of common LG refrigerator repair issues and their solutions. If this helps, great! Otherwise, we are there to offer you complete support in San Diego.
Problem #1: LG side-by-side users have reported that their water dispenser on the outside does not dispense water, and there is no water supply to the ice maker as well. The only time when the dispenser seems to operate is when it is kept pressed for a long time. This happens in spite of a new water filter and a seemingly defect-free water line.
Solution: This can seem like a fairly confusing problem, but even after a new water filter, there could be a couple of reasons causing this malfunction. First of all, there is a possibility that the water line is frozen and clogged. Check that, and clear it if necessary. If that is not the problem, you probably have a defective water valve inside the refrigerator door. It is common for this valve to fail. This will have to be replaced by a technician.
Problem #2: Some users have seen an ‘Er IF’ message on their side-by-side refrigerator’s LED display, and they wonder what this means.
Solution: In all LG refrigerators, ‘Er’ stands for an error message, and indicates that a part is malfunctioning. An ‘Er IF’ error code indicates that the icemaker fan (IF) is malfunctioning. This fan controls the production of ice in the unit. One reason for the malfunction could be that there is a buildup of ice in the unit. Unplug it for a few hours (4-5) to allow the ice to melt away, and see if the problem persists. For this, you could easily get some help from the LG customer service as well.
Problem #3: Often LG side-by-side owners ask us what the right temperature setting is for their unit. People who have misplaced their manuals or those who are not used to digital settings do not feel comfortable making their own adjustments.
Solution: There are two temperature controls – the first one is the compressor control and the other one controls the temperature inside the refrigerator and freezer. It is best if you set both your controls to a middle level.
Problem #4: People who own LG compact refrigerators often end up with questions about the efficiency of the cold box at the top. They wonder why it does not function as well as a proper freezer.
Solution: The cold box at the top of the compact refrigerator unit is not designed to function like a full-fledged freezer. It simply does not have that capacity. It can only freeze things that are small and easy to freeze. It won’t function for vegetables, fruits or fish.
This is not an exhaustive account of problems, but we reckon it will help a lot of people understand what is wrong with their refrigerator. If you require further assistance for LG refrigerator repair in San Diego.
